Kenya VAT compliance reform

The VAT compliance regime of Kenya is to be overhauled to reduce complexity and increase revenue take.

The main reforms are to include:

• a reduction in the number of VAT exempt or zero-rated goods and services
• changes to the VAT refund procedures which is overburdened

The Kenya VAT reform measures will be put forward for debate the start of April 2012, and will enter into law before the end of the year.
