Japan plans 2012 Consumption Tax increase |

19 January 2011 The Japanese state has announced plans to increase the Consumption Tax rate from its current 5% rate in 2012. No new yet has been confirmed yet. This indirect tax rise is aimed a meeting the rapidly rising state welfare costs as the population ages. The tax rise will come as part of a package of tax reforms.
