Italy VAT payments changed to quarterly

For businesses supply goods and services where the annual turnover is below €700,000 and €400,000 respectively, there is now the option to settle any Italian VAT liabilities on a quarterly basis.

If companies elect to use this option, there will be a 1% interest charge.

This new provision came into effect on 1 January 2012.
